IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT BECAUSE:

  1. They have committed fraud in the selling of the Iraq war, with false and misleading statements, deceiving congress, the media, and the American public about the reasons for the military invasion of Iraq -- in violation of the U.N. Charter which specifically prohibits aggressive war;
  2. They have secretly and illegally spied on American citizens for six years without the required warrants or judicial review, in defiance of the 4th Amendment of the Bill of Rights;
  3. They have claimed the right to detain anyone, including U.S. citizens, without charge, as "enemy combatants" indefinitely, without counsel, and without the right of due process or habeas corpus;
  4. They have claimed the right to abuse and torture military detainees in Guantanamo, Iraq and Afghanistan, in abrogation of the Geneva Conventions against cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment;
  5. They have carried out a policy of "rendition," covert abductions of individuals to secret prisons in third world areas to be interrogated through torture;
  6. They have undermined the constitutional separation of power by "signing statements" and by arrogantly ignoring congressional subpoenas, and by continuing to issue executive orders which arrogate new powers of law to the executive branch, wholly outside the constitutional process;
  7. They have politicized the actions of the Justice Department, and they have conspired to insulate their actions from legislative scrutiny and judicial accountability.

THE FOREGOING ARE ONLY PART OF THE SEVERE DAMAGE TO WHICH OUR CONSTITUTION AND OUR LAWS HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED. INDEED, THE ADMINISTRATION IS UNAPOLOGETIC WHILE IT CONTINUES TO EXPAND UPON MANY OF THE SAME ABUSES.

IT HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY CLEAR THAT THE VERY FOUNDATIONS OF THIS NATION ARE BEING SUBVERTED AS AT NO TIME BEFORE IN OUR HISTORY. TO LET THOSE SUBVERSIONS STAND WOULD BE A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT FOR ANY FUTURE PRESIDENT. OUR ONLY LINE OF DEFENSE AT THIS JUNCTURE IS THE MECHANISM URGED BY THE FOUNDERS -- THE MECHANISM OF IMPEACHMENT.
